Don Juan

Standard

Reaching longingly

Toward the front porch:  red rose,

Last glimpse of summer

I was taken aback yesterday by one persistent red rose blooming at my friend’s house.  It was the same kind, a Don Juan rose, that has bloomed in my parents’ back yard for as long as I can remember and is a stubborn, leggy rose with a beautiful fragrance.  Summer’s last stand.
